Facilities

Latifa School for Girls occupies 2 sites, which are adjacent to each other. New buildings for the Primary section were opened September 2002.

Secondary
The Secondary section is well resourced and occupies a large site with playing fields, tennis and netball courts set in landscaped gardens. Science is taught in five laboratories; one is available for sciences in general, one each has been designed for Chemistry and Physics, and two are specialised Biology laboratories. The Art Department has two general-purpose rooms, and two specially equipped rooms. Plans are well advanced to construct a new art and design block and for refurbishment of the science laboratories. Music is offered to whole classes and on an individual basis for instruction in piano, violin, viola, 'cello, clarinet, percussion and the oud. In line with the School's desire to upgrade its ICT provision, a fibre-optic local area network has recently been installed. The School has 10 computer suites available for class use and interactive whiteboards and projectors in most classrooms.

In the P.E. department there is a covered swimming pool, large soundproofed sports hall, dance studio, 2 squash courts and a fitness centre.

In addition to subject-specific and general-purpose teaching facilities, the Secondary section benefits from a fully computerised library, which holds more than 100,000 items and includes foreign language texts. The library and computer-equipped resources area attached to it are housed in a large complex shared with Sixth Form classrooms, study-rooms and a common room. An Assembly Hall, complete with sound and light system is used for assemblies , concerts and parents meetings.

The Secondary section also has a manned media resources centre available to staff, containing reprographic, printing and binding equipment.

Primary
The Primary section has excellent resources housed in purpose built premises, which were opened in September 2002. It occupies a large site with playing fields, covered swimming pool, and tennis and netball courts in landscaped gardens. There are 4 connecting buildings housing Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2, Performing Arts and Administration. All classrooms have two computers, a carpet area, wet area, bathrooms and large shared storeroom between the two classes in each year group. Each Key Stage has a mobile bank of laptop computers which can be used by individual classes whenever required. In addition, 14 classrooms have interactive whiteboards and projectors.

In both of the Key Stage buildings there is a large central area, which has been developed for structured play activities.

In the Administration building, between the Key Stage buildings, there is a well-resourced Library, an ICT suite containing 20 computers and a specialised Art Room, which can be used by all students. There is also a manned media resources centre available to staff, containing reprographic, printing and binding equipment.

In the Performing Arts building is the covered swimming pool, large soundproofed sports hall, dance studio, Music room with an attached sound proofed practice room. There is also an Assembly Hall complete with sound and light system, and projection system to use a computer.
